Between Copy and Paste, Think

This is a reminder of how exercising some patience while using automation can avoid undesirable outcomes.

The other day, I received a message on LinkedIn, offering me an opportunity in the UK immigration sector. He wrote they had made upward of 1.8 million pounds in a year and were “opening doors for a select few to join us as partners.”

I replied with a stock “Not interested.”

In an instant, a reply came: “No worries, Kartik. We understand that not every opportunity is the right fit for everyone…”

I could not believe how quickly I transformed from Sanjay to Kartik…!!!

I know it is a silly mistake we all may make at times, in all our haste. But it is also a reminder to use technology carefully. Automation can help. It can do a lot of useful things for us. But to harness its power, we must use our brain and some patience for effectiveness.

Otherwise, our zealous dumbness will inadvertently transform people from Sanjay to Kartik. And they will dislike us for that creativity, failing our genuine efforts to do some personal marketing.

A friend used to say, “Between Ctrl+C (Copy) and Ctrl+V (Paste), there must be Ctrl+T (Think), which we generally don’t do.”
And then we blame technology. Our dumbness must own up to its own stupidity. That is being responsible. The world will not be overtaken by AI.
Human stupidity will be conquered for its own impatience and thoughtlessness. We should not blame machines for our own brand of stupidity. We should continue to deserve that honor.
